Okulus

Okulus is an outdoor art exhibition space in a forest at Harpefoss art arena. With the forest as an observatory for artistic research, this constitutes an experimental arena for site-based art. By being universally designed, it facilitates movement, reflection and participation in a forest where everyone can encounter nature on their own terms. Art can be seen as a kind of bridge or a “transition point” where something invisible comes to the fore and makes us sense something still unfinished and unrecognized.

Theme 2025: Refugie

The theme for 2025 is “Refugie” and refers to pockets in the landscape that are a prerequisite for the survival of species, and represents an in-depth study and further development of the experiences from the first symposium. In response to the surroundings and to each other’s projects in the forest observatory, the artists will create new works, performative projects, concerts, lectures, film and sound art installations for the symposium.

The curatorial group for the symposium consists of composer and visual artist Ewa Jacobsson, author Eivind Hofstad Evjemo, composer and musician Maja S. K. Ratkje and architect Dagur Eggertsson in collaboration with Eivind Slettemeås for Harpefoss art arena.
